About Ewa Plain Real Estate
If you are looking for newer-looking neighborhoods, consider Ewa Beach real estate (Ewa is pronounced “ehvah”). The community of Ewa is located on the southwest side of Oahu and is a huge plain of newer subdivision homes. If you drive along the two main roadways (Ft. Weaver Rd. and Kapolei Parkway), you will see models for new homes which are still being built.
Ewa is now a large, fairly new community with Queen’s Medical Center and Laulani Village Shopping Center, several strip malls, golf courses, parks and a lot of beach front property. What’s exciting are the plans for Haseko Development’s waterfront retail, dining and entertainment center at Ewa Beach. Haseko Development plans to build the 215,000-square-foot complex at its Hoakalei property, Wai Kai at Hoakalei. This shopping and resort complex would include at least 110 retail establishments and shops, a 10,000 sq.ft. specialty market and a 15,000 sq.ft. health club and spa. Its targeted date of completion is the end of 2019 or 2020.

Developers are continuing to build more homes, and cannot keep up with the demand for new construction. While Ewa and Ewa Beach is not really next door to the military bases or large employers, it is an attractive, large community of distinct subdivisions. The nice thing is that a few neighborhoods such as Ocean Pointe are still eligible for 100% USDA rural financing. (Ocean Pointe does not look rural. However, the most recent Census statistics show that the area is not heavily populated.)
The weather is definitely sunny, and there are many parks which dot the neighborhoods. Plenty of family homes are available, and every park seems to have children playing on the playground equipment with adults nearby.
Originally, a very nice town developed around sugar, one friend remembers Ewa as “back then it was a small community, caring and friendly…you could leave your doors unlocked and feel safe. As a childhood, I remember looking forward to the Santa parade through the neighborhood and a party in the gym.”
Today, tourists can catch the small train and take a ride to Kapolei listening to the guide reminisce about the sugar days.

Enjoyable for both young and old alike. Take a ride onboard a steam locomotive, and see how Oahu was developed.
At its peak, the railway was approximately 160 miles in length and move the agriculture from the fields to the docs and local factories. The rail has served multiple purposes on the island, from military and civilian transportation in World War II to construction materials during the Ewa Plain build up.
